Public Notice

25th December, 2023

The Management of Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority(EDSA) wishes to inform the general public that, as a way of update on the unfortunate attack on its network infrastructure at Freetown 161 Station that led to the destruction of some accessories attached to transformer two which resulted to a reduced supply capacity, the Authority is pleased to inform the public that maintenance and repair works have been completed.

Moreover, to ensure the smooth and stable operation of the affected transformer, it is technically essential for the Authority to ensure that the repaired transformer is filled with 15,000 liters of purified oil and is allowed to go through the purification process to drive efficiency in operation and avoid breakdowns. To this end, the Authority is pleased to inform the public that purification process has commenced, and it is estimated that the process will be completed within a day or two.

The Authority therefore continues to plead with customers to show patience and understanding during this challenging moment while it promises to restore normal supply with additional 27 Megawatts upon completion of the purification process.
