The Effects of Climate Change on the Environment

The environment is the world as it is now and as it used to be before human intervention. The environment includes the earth's natural communities, ecosystems, and zones. The environment sustains all life on earth, gives us food and water, and protects us from diseases and deadly temperatures. Global warming, or the increase in the earth's temperature, threatens the survival of the entire environment. Melting ice causes sea level rise and contributes to more extreme weather. As a result, ecosystems, and habitats are being damaged or destroyed.

When the temperature increases, the weather changes become more extreme. Extreme weather causes global warming, sea level rise, and environmental damage. Since the mid-20th century, global temperatures have risen by around 1 . 5 degrees Celsius. In addition to warming, carbon dioxide from the burning of fossil fuels contributes to global greenhouse gas emissions. This leads to further global warming and greater environmental damage. Global warming causes droughts and desertification of land. It also damages freshwater resources as well as biodiversity in both land and marine environments. Changing climatic conditions lead to biodiversity loss as climates change vegetation zones, animal habitats, and natural ecosystems. Climate change causes species loss as new areas become too hot or cold for certain life forms to survive. As well as harming humans directly, these conditions can lead to the great loss of life among other species.

As part of coping with climate change, governments introduce environmental laws to protect their citizens from harmful environmental conditions. For example, China implemented a law on air pollution in response to its coal-burning contributing to global warming and subsequent environmental damage. Higher temperatures lead to greater sea level rise as oceans absorb more water through hygroscopic properties- even though ice caps are also affected by this process. As well as drowning cities, rising sea levels affect shipping, agriculture, and economic development in coastal areas. Furthermore, extreme weather damages crops while also killing humans who live on or near the coast- especially those living in low-lying areas or regions prone to flooding.

The environment has suffered greatly due to human intervention over the past 150 years. Global warming threatens our way of life in many ways similar to how World War I threatened previous generations' way of life. However, there are ways we can reduce carbon emissions and cope with increased extreme weather conditions caused by climate change. We must reduce our emissions and support conservation measures that help preserve our homes for future generations.
