Nightmare of employees working in the hospitality industry in Sierra Leone

Welcome to Sierra Leone! The land of my birth. Sierra Leone can be found in the West cost of Africa.

My Country has so  many things in terms of natural endowment, but the majority swimming in abject poverty. as my able brother says in his poem" Africa is Rich but poor" Sineh .T. Mugieh.

With the level of suffering employees go through to make things happen for their employers is far way overlooked from various angles. The Government, The labour ministry and the labour Union if  their is one.  Sierra Leone is one country were you will find people whose work makes no sense to society earn  a  better salaries than the ordinary man who is more qualify has the experience and who work round the clock to make things happen, who also may be taking care of five or ten people of his family.

Did you know that still at this era! Where state laws, makes it clear that the minimum wage should be six hundred thousands Leone which is around ($58) equivalent working round the clock for a month in Sierra Leone. Do you believe their are so many employers who pay their employees below  that minimum wage? Well this is Sierra Leone it happen almost everyday.

So many times most  leaders of Africa have prove to be irrelevant to it citizens, the simple reason is that their are square pigs in round hole. I don't see that changes right now simply because our problems in Africa revolves around enemies of the state syndrome. People don't have the land at heart. Many of them See's Africa as their second home.

Back to business does the ministry of labour have  on their calendar "Section"  of  checking places of work? I believe they have and they would tell you we do undertake this activity.

Sierra Leone hospitality workers suffered the most. Many of these workers earned below the minimum wage and their work life is not structure for longtime personal development and career development. It high time the ministry of labour see the constraints their citizens are facing, no national social security and insurance trust, no medical arrangement no structural working arrangement. He who feels it knowns it.

Sierra Leone should have far gone pass this, but this is where we have found ourselves with little or no hope.  Did you also know that sierra Leone has one of the most unfair treatment when it come to females working in the hospitality industry by their boss?

However, upon all of these we still have space  to make things better with correct people with developmental minds

The following are things that should be happen for a better Sierra Leone.

***Contract should be given to every workers who is working under the the hospitality industry. Many workers have no contract which is mandatory to have in any  working place.

***regular survey could also help this situation as it will help know the number, the place and the workers that are working but underemployed.

***labour officer should step out from their comfort zones and do unannounced visit to the hotels, restaurants, resorts and guesthouses.

The rise of pyramid schemes in Sierra Leone has become a concern.

The rise of pyramid schemes in Sierra Leone has become a concern.  In recent years, the rise of pyramid schemes has become a concerning phenomenon that has affected individuals, communities, and even entire economies. Pyramid schemes, also known as Ponzi schemes, promise quick and substantial financial gains to participants but ultimately result in significant financial losses for the majority of participants involved. At their core, pyramid schemes operate on a deceptive business model that relies on recruiting new participants to generate profits, rather than selling genuine products or providing legitimate services. The initial participants, often referred to as "founders" or "early adopters," are enticed by the promise of high returns on their investments or membership fees. They are encouraged to recruit others into the scheme, who in turn recruit more participants, forming a hierarchical structure resembling a pyramid. The allure of pyramid schemes lies in the...
