President Bio Leads Engagement On The Safe Motherhood Bill- Calls On Parliament To Enact The Law.

On the 23rd January 2024, His Excellency Dr. Julius Maada Bio convened a meeting at State House to engage stakeholders ranging from government officials, religious leaders, traditional leaders, womens’ group, civil society and other important voices on the Safe Motherhood Bill 2024 which is currently in Parliament for enactment.   The Deputy Health Minister Jalikatu Mustapha made the compelling case for the bill and the various revisions done to accommodate the views of the Inter Religious Council and others. On advancing women’s rights and gender equality, she said, whether its policies, laws, investments or appointments, no president in history comes close to the achievements of President Bio. The bill, she said, comprehensively addresses women’s reproductive health needs, reduces teenage pregnancy and takes into consideration our cultural context. Labour Minister addresses workers' welfare at Sierra Diamond Ltd Company Tongo- Lower Bambara chiefdom- Kenema District

  24th January 2025 In a swift response to videos and images of Sierra Diamond workers strike action making rounds on social media, the Hon Minister of Employment, Labour and Social Security Mohamed Rahman Swaray led a team of Senior Labour officials to the Company’s Mine Site to resolve the causes of the strike action.  These efforts are in line with the Ministry's mandates, which, among other things, are to maintain industrial peace and harmony and to protect the rights of the workers.   During an entrance meeting with management, Minister Swaray received report about the challenging  business climate and its impact on the diamond markets, leading to the temporary closure of the mines while employees were sent home on administrative leave. Ministry of information hold two days retreat

HAPPENING NOW Country Lodge Hotel, Hill Station The Ministry of Information and Civic Education is conducting a two-day staff retreat to review the Ministry's undertakings from the previous year and devise a strategy for transformative outcomes in 2025. In his opening address, Minister of Information and Civic Education Chernor Bah lauded the staff for their outstanding efforts in 2024 and encouraged each member of the Ministry to elevate their performance in 2025.
